Severan Toasts to Black British Excellence with New Sparkling Wine

Welcome to the next generation of the UK wine scene: Severan. This Black-owned, invested, and operated business is not just a wine company, but a symbol of Black British excellence and creativity with an impressive global impact.

The brainchild of music industry veteran, Dumi Oburota, Severan ushers in a new era of sparkling wine, bridging the gap between tradition and innovation. The brand is also backed by a diverse group of investors who believe in the same mission.

Presenting their inaugural offering, the Black Label Brut, Severan sets a high standard for what's to come. This Blanc de Blancs Brut captures a delightful balance of smooth, lasting bubbles and impeccable flavor. The wine's creation is a testament to Severan's core values of inclusivity, sustainability, and fine craftsmanship.

The creation process of Severan's base wine is a journey from the vineyards of Franschhoek, South Africa, known for its optimal fruit-ripening conditions, to the verdant hills of Hampshire, England. The base wine, a product of high-quality chardonnay grapes, undergoes a second fermentation and ages for an additional two and a half years in England, yielding a distinct sparkling wine that uniquely blends South African and British winemaking traditions.

Commenting on the launch of Severan, founder Dumi Oburota expressed his aspiration for the brand: “With Severan, we wanted to create a legacy brand for the UK wine industry. We want to be known for producing high-quality sparkling wines that reflect the diversity and excellence of Britain’s Black culture.”
