Rise In Light | A Short Film Starring Alton Mason

International supermodel, Alton Mason shares his coming-of-age short film ‘Rise in Light’ with the world, directed by Melanin Unscripted.

Rise in Light is a movement created by the youth to inspire and ignite the future leaders of our world. It’s a call for change, evidence of freedom, and the expression of love and joy. With the timing of this pandemic, the team felt an inner calling to find some way to apply our creativity into some form of solution - no matter the size of it. The film is used as a catalyst to help people on ground and make an impact. Rise in Light is an opportunity to not only shed light on communities that often get overlooked but also to tune in to the light we all have in ourselves.

Not only serving as audio & visual expression, this campaign, partnered with Melanin Unscripted, will operate as a fundraising effort to raise $10,000 USD - all of which will help support the Khan Foundation Nigeria, and provide relief packages to the wider community of children and families in the Makoko and Iwaya slums in Lagos, during this time. The foundation will continue their work in the community by providing relief packages of basic necessities such as food and toiletries and workshops to educate people in the community on how to stay safe.
