Social Distancing merely just started for us in Lagos, but some of you around the world have been learning this new lifestyle for a little over two weeks. We’re now in the beginning stages of cabin-fever. From the latest adjustments to ‘working from home’ …met with distractions like online shopping, pushup challenges, or learning a new TikTok dance to going over lesson plans with the young ones, thinking how unappreciated teachers are; we’re with you.
The action of social distancing in the coming weeks will be necessary. It can get easy to feel lost in isolation, but we’re genuinely optimistic that we are at the cusp of a new golden age. The online world has been with us for a long time but, until about a month ago, we’ve almost been forced to take our shopping online, learning online, attend digital conferences and even experience virtual nightclubs.
We encourage you to stay positive and make the most out of this time at home.
Get Some Reading In
Whether it’s an old book you’ve meant to revisit or one that you’ve had on your list for a while. Now is a great time to take a deep dive into a book. Sometimes non-fiction books can take over our bookshelves; we recommend reading some fiction. When you read fiction, you’re experiencing life in the eyes of the characters.
Try a New Recipe
While there’s no need to hoard groceries, now would be a great time to cook your favorite meal. We have the opportunity to try out some new recipes and make it your own. Never been to Japan, visit your local cultural grocery store and pick up some ingredients to make sushi. Indian food more of your fancy? Chicken Tikka Masala might become a new favorite. Try your hand at making some new recipes.
Find Peace
How many times have you put off writing in your journal or postponed your meditation session for next week? Now is an excellent time to take a more in-depth look inside of your mind to take inventory. When you wake up in the morning, don’t immediately reach for your phone. Take 10 minutes to take deep breaths and make mental notes of what you’re grateful for.
